NEET photo resizer

Summary: this NEET UG tool crops, resizes and compresses your files 100% locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so your photo and signature stay private on your device.

NEET UG asks for two photographs of the same sitting: a passport-size photo and a 4 × 6 inch postcard-size photo. Both must be JPG files between 10 KB and 200 KB, taken against a white background, and both carry a printed strip with your name and the date the photo was taken. This page prepares each file and adds that strip for you, so you don't need a photo studio to redo it.

Target: Passport size · 10–200 KB · JPG

Step-by-Step Guide for NEET UG Photo Uploads

  1. 1Take a front-facing photo against a plain white wall in even light.
  2. 2Choose the Passport photo tab, type your name and the date the photo was taken, and upload the photo.
  3. 3Press Prepare, check that the name and DOP strip is readable, and download the JPG.
  4. 4Switch to the Postcard tab, enter a DPI (for example 300) so 4 × 6 inches becomes a pixel size, and repeat with the same photo.
  5. 5Confirm both files show a result between 10 KB and 200 KB before uploading them to the NEET portal.

Preparing each file properly

What the numbers mean

A requirement like "200 × 230 px, 20–50 KB" sets two separate limits. The pixel size is the shape and detail of the image; the KB range is how many bytes the saved file takes. You fix the pixels first, then adjust compression until the file lands inside the range. A file can have the right pixels and still be rejected for being too small in KB, so check both values in the result panel.

Taking the photo

Stand facing a window or another even light source against a plain, light wall. Hold the phone at eye level about an arm's length away so the face is not distorted. Avoid caps, dark glasses and heavy shadows. Use a recent photo — the NEET UG notification states what "recent" means and what background is accepted.

Cropping correctly

The resizer crops to fill the required shape from the centre. If your face is not near the middle of the original, first crop it with the Crop Image tool so that the head and top of the shoulders are centred with a little space above the hair. For signatures and handwritten text, crop tightly around the ink so it is not lost in empty paper.

Resizing and reducing file size

Choose the tab for the document, upload it, and the tool resizes to the stated pixels and searches JPG quality until the measured size fits. Small images such as signatures often come out below the minimum KB. If that happens, start from a sharper, higher-resolution scan rather than adding noise — and check whether the current notification really sets a minimum.

Keeping quality acceptable

Zoom into the preview before downloading. Faces should look natural, not blocky, and every letter of a signature or declaration should be readable. Always work from the original photo rather than re-compressing a file you already compressed, because each save loses detail.

Troubleshooting

  • Portal says the format is wrong: download the JPG from this page; do not rename a PNG or HEIC file. iPhone photos can be converted with HEIC to JPG.
  • Image looks stretched: you used a custom size with a different ratio — use the document tab's preset.
  • Upload fails with no message: check the file name has no special characters and try another browser.
  • Photo too dark after compression: retake it in better light; compression cannot recover lost detail.

Common rejection reasons

  • Background is not white, or has shadows behind the head.
  • Name or Date of Photo strip is missing.
  • Passport and postcard photos are from different sittings.
  • File is above 200 KB or below 10 KB.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add the date to my NEET photo?

Type your name and the date the photo was taken into the two boxes above the upload area. When you press Prepare, the tool draws a white strip along the bottom of the photo with your name and "DOP: date" in black text. It is drawn by your browser on the copy you download; your original file is not changed.

What size is the NEET postcard photo?

4 × 6 inches. Because a file is measured in pixels, enter the DPI you want to work at — 300 DPI gives 1200 × 1800 px — and the tool crops and resizes to that, then keeps the file between 10 KB and 200 KB.

Does my background have to be white?

Yes, a white background is mandatory for both photos. This tool cannot replace a coloured background; retake the photo against a white wall, or remove the background first and place it on white.

What if my photo comes out under 10 KB?

That only happens with very small or very plain originals. Start from the full-resolution photo from your phone camera rather than a screenshot or a WhatsApp copy, then prepare it again.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Cropping, compression and the date stamp all happen inside your browser, and the finished JPG is downloaded straight to your device.
